My dog has green eye discharge for weeks. Is it an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Alaskan Malamute | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 85 lbs

My pup has had green/white secretions in the corners of his eyes for the last two weeks. I keep thinking it’s cleared up, but I end up wiping his eyes multiple times a day. He’s never had this problem before and otherwise is in good health. Should I take him to the vet due to a possible infection and antibiotics, or is this unecessary? Thanks!

Hi there! Great photos! Thank you for attaching them to your question. Yes, I think you should get Nash to your vet for an exam since this has not resolved on it's own in the past two weeks. It doesn't seem serious but at this point it some antibiotics are probably going to be needed to get this to clear up. I think it will clear up in just a few days with the proper treatment. I hope this helps. Best wishes.
