My cat is sleepy, drooling, and won't eat. Could it be worms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 9 months old

My cat hasn’t been himself lately and I think I found a couple worms near his rectum area. Lately he’s been very sleepy and has had no appetite and also he has been drooling a lot, I’m not sure what to do

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Logic, he is super cute! Since he isn't eating I would have him seen today before the weekend by your Vet. Cats can not go long periods of time with out eating, they get a secondary liver problems from prolonged anorexia. Bring a stool sample. Worms can cause a decreased appetite and nausea but so can many other things: viral or bacterial infections, ulcers in the mouth from viral infections or kidney disease, foreign body (something is stuck that needs to be surgically removed), fever, dietary indiscretion. The drooling can indicate oral pain or nausea. I hope this helps and I wish Logic the best!
