My jack Russell terrier has both irritation of the eye and of both years. My guess is an infection of both, but I cannot afford to take her to the vet at this very moment. Her eye looks like conjunctivitis... Moisture all around it with discharge and red puffiness. She just keeps scratching her ears And has alot of redness and looks like some minor discharge as well. I just hate to see her this way. Is there a chance that it is allergies ? And a little benadryl might help or shd i go rite to vet

Hi there, It does look like your dog is having an allergic reaction to something. Typically dogs are allergic to their environment or to a food. With the redness of the eyes and ears, it would be best to go to your vet so they can test for secondary infection and prescribe medications to clear things up. You can try rinsing the ears with a 50:50 solution of white vinegar and water and wipe them out with cotton balls, but a vet visit would be ideal. I'm not sure how much your dog weighs to give you a benadryl dose, if you want to try that please submit another question with this info. Benadryl can help with the redness but it does look like your dog has more going on and needs to be seen. Best wishes and thanks for using Pet Coach.
