My puppy isn't pooping enough. Is she underweight for her age?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 19 days old | 19.842 lbs

My puppy hasn't pooped since morning. She normally went once in the morning, then day, and finally at night. Bt today she has only gone once today, in the morning. Her diet is the same as usual. Also today i found out she's only 9 kg that is 19.842 lbs. Puppy about 4 months are usually 16 kg. Is she under weight?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I wouldn't worry about the decreased pooping. As long as she is eating, not vomiting and is active it could just be a fluke and she'll go just fine the following day. The weight and size of a dog depends on genetics and breed. Not all dogs weigh the same, so not all puppies weigh 16 kg at 4 months old. I hope this helps!
