Is Royal Canin cat food good for sensitive stomachs despite concerns?

I don't think Royal Canin makes a dedicated fish diet for cats. i'm not sure why you are looking specifically for a fish based diet, if it is because you know for sure that he is doing better on such a diet i would recommend ORIJEN Six Fish Cat Food.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Muffy! Royal Canine is a great food but it doesn't mean it is perfect for every pet! Hill's Science Diet and Purina are also good food. I would try a sensitive stomach formula in Royal Canin first then switch brands. Be sure to keep in mind that a food allergy is just once cause of vomiting. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, hair balls, foreign body, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion or inflammatory bowel disease. Royal canin is a quality food very well balanced nutritionally and with very good results clinically. It would ny preferred range for taste/acceptance, overall nutritional balance and digestibility. It is guaranteed to be a fixed formula so every bag is identical whereas some brands will vary batch by batch using cheapest ingredients each time

As a regular food I would never recommend Royal Canin. As you pointed the ingredients are not the best, especially when compared to food such as Blue Buffalo and Orijen. Unfortunately sometimes a dog or cat need a prescription diet for a specific condition. Those conditions can greatly benefits from those special diets and Royal Canin is one of the best in that area.

The main ingredient in that food is duck and tapioca. Duck is commonly found in several formulations of dog food, both prescription and over the counter. However, tapioca is not. It is limited to this brand. If the protein source is the problem, then staying on a duck formula is ideal and the carbohydrate portion will not matter. However, if the carbohydrate is the problem then you will have to perform an elimination diet to see what besides tapioca he can tolerate. Science diet makes a D/D version that does contain duck you can try, however the carbohydrate source is potato. Puirna Beyond has a duck and sweet potato formula you can try also.

They have the veterinary scientists & research dollars to innovate, create & stand behind their products that are used to help fight disease & metabolic problems in our pets. If all you are interested in is basic nutrition, then all the other pet food manufacturers are more than adequate, as long as they have the AAFCO statement on their label. But if you have a pet with liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems or any other number of health defining issues, be very glad we have these companies looking & innovating ways to keep our pets as healthy as possible. Meat byproducts, corn meal and beat pulp are not the root of all evil, as many blogs and articles written by non-medical professionals like to claim. :-) In general, brands that I recommend include Royal Canin, Science Diet and Purina ProPlan due to the appropriate testing and controlled studies involving these diets. Take your vet's recommendation - Royal Canin canned foods (I assume the low fat?) can be quite helpful in managing chronic pancreatitis. You can also discuss low fat prescription diets by Science Diet and Purina with your vet to see if your dogs would be wiling to eat this kibbles, if that is your preference. Hello, the royal canin gastro intestinal low fat diet is a good diet to feed a dog with pancreatitis. It is easily digestible which also allows the GI tract to recover from from any dietary insults which may have caused vomiting or diarrhea. You can also try Purina EN or Hills I/D. Best of luck.

Royal Canin is one of my top choices! It meets AAFCO standards, runs their own feeding trials, and have veterinary nutritionists on staff. It's one of only four brands that have all this, the others are Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I feed my dogs Iams. I think you have Chloe on an excellent food and I would not change it! Keep up the good work :-)
