Kitten recovering from panleuk: high WBC, low platelets. Is he okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 3 days old | 3 lbs

My kitten was hospitalized last dec18-dec21 due to fever, lethargy and loss of appetite. He tested + for panleukopenia. When he was discharged only issue is his low hemoglobin. He was given co-amox, iron sup and vit c upon discharge. We returned 2 wks later for repeat cbc , his anemia resolved but his platelet count dropped and his wbc is high. Currently He is asymptomatic however hes picky about his foods. (i attached the cbc results). What can be differential diagnosis? Is he in trouble?

A lower wbc in the aftermath of panleuc infection would not be uncommon but it would be expected to rise over 4-6weeks as he recovers, as should the hgb. I recommend keeping him isolated as far as possible from other cats as he recuperates as he would be prone to catching infections
