Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | neutered | 4 years old | 8 lbs
Whenever someone comes in our house my dog barks and tries to bite them. We are having to put him in the crate when people are over out of fear of him biting a child. He is extremely protective of me and even if a family member hugs me he will growl if they don’t let go right away. He won’t try to bite them though he only tries to bite people who come into our house. I don’t know what to do, we want for him to be able to be out of the crate and be calm when people are here. He is havanese and 4.

This is a very difficult problem. This is link to a behavioral issue that can be resolved with training. I would recommend asking a trainer to come into the house to help you. Also I would start working on basic commands, like sit, come and stay. That way when people come over you can re direct Ripley. IT will be very helpful to have someone like a trainer work with you one on one. I hope that helps
