What's causing my senior cat's swollen nipple lump, leg pain, and weight loss?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

I have a 8-11 year old female spayed cat. She's developed a hard mass under her last 2 nipples and they are both swollen and very warm. She also has leg cramps, where she can't move a leg for a few minutes and tries to get up but can't. She eats her food and our other cat's food but has lost weight. She sleeps all day and always licks her belly. What could it be?

Thank you for reaching out to Pet Coach about Stoney. Based on your description and pictures I am concerned about a mammary mass. You did not mention her age in the description, but with a mammary mass these are painful and probably causing her pain when she walks. It could be cancer, inflammation, or infection. Please have her examined by her veterinarian as soon as you can so they can get her some pain medication and provide you with a diagnosis for this problem. Best of luck with Stoney.
