Should I groom my pet before using mange shampoo? Will mites surface?

Dr. Amber Hinson with pet coach suggested Renu Plex Plus shampoo for Mange. When I shampoo with this shampoo does it bring mites to surface of skin. Wondering if I should groom before applying. Definitely dont want to agrevate mites prior to me shaving then down. Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 34 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Demodex mites live in the hair follicle and scabies mites live under the skin. It is fine to groom Ty before bathing. The shampoo will flush the follicles but the mites can not survive on the surface and water will rinse them away. If you think Ty has demodex also consider using Nexgard or Bravecto or Simparica. They are oral flea and tick medications that also kill demodex mites. Scabies requires ivermectin injections or topical Revolution. I hope this helps!
