Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 10 days old | 45 lbs
My dog REFUSES to walk with me. He is a 6 month old pit bull mix and I am an petite woman. Whenever my boyfriend (larger man) walks him, there are no problems, but when I take him he plants his butt on the ground and doesn't budge unless turn back towards home. I think it might be caused by a fear of other dogs barking at him and he feels safer around my boyfriend, but I'm not sure how to correct this behavior. Do you have any suggestions?

Sometimes they will choose who to walk with due to feeling safe but also due to dominance. He may feel you boyfriend is more of the alpha than you. I would start working with him on other tricks and teach him other behaviors as well. I would also consider taking him to a group training class just you and him this will help him bond with you and learn that you are also the “boss”. Also, there are trainers that will come to your house to work specifically for your situation. Finally, I would keep trying with the leash walk. You may try to go for a walk with you holding the leash and your boyfriend next to you. Overtime, have your boyfriend walk further away from y’all. I am also going to attach some articles are leash training. I hope this helps! http://www.akc.org/content/dog-training/articles/teach-puppy-walk-leash/ https://drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/my-puppy-wont-walk-on-leash-3-ways-to-train-your-puppy-to-love-her-leash/ https://www.cesarsway.com/dog-training/walking/puppy-is-impossible-to-walk https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.petcoach.co/amp/article/5-easy-steps-to-walk-your-dog-on-a-loose-leash
