My dog is drooling a lot. Could it be from eating spicy food?

Im not sure what is wrong with my dog but she is drooling a lot and i am starting to get worried at first i thought it was because she got into a bag of spicy chips but she has been drooling all day and i dont know what to do can you help?

It could be that Mia is drooling because she is nauseous. If she does get into a back of spicy chips, that may have upset her stomach leading to the nausea and subsequent drooling. I would withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. Hopefully that should help the drooling, but if the drooling doesn't stop, gets worse, or she develops other signs such as vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, or lethargy, then I would take her into the vet. My dog started excessively drooling today. He's eating and drinking and going to the bathroom ok, but so much drool. I've checked his mouth and don't see anything obvious. What could cause this suddenly?
It sounds like Charlie is nauseous. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the excessive drooling continues on the bland diet, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

My young dog, about 15 lbs., came in from outside drooling heavily. She sits by me on the couch, and that end of the couch is soaked. I have no harmful chemicals put there. She is still wanting snacks. What could this mean?
Either sh chewed/ingested something that is causing this reaction in her mouth or she may be experiencing severe nausea. give it a couple hours to calm down, if it doesn't get any better by then- take her to your vet to get it checked and treated.

My Boxer is drooling excessively. She has never done this before. She is 11 months old and has never had any problems.
Drooling is a sign of nausea which could be caused by something she ate. She may correct herself, so I would suggest perhaps monitoring her for the next 6 hrs to see if this behavior stops. If she continues to drool and/or other symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite) develop then that is definitely a good time to get her checked by your local veterinarian. Other possible causes of drooling are: problems with her teeth, infection, and nausea due to organ malfunction (i.e. kidneys, liver, etc). You can also offer her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for the next few feedings to see if this too will help settle her stomach. I hope your puppy Rousey recovers well!

I am fostering a 10 yr old Male yellow Lab. We were in the country for the weekend. He has started drooling about an hour ago and just can't stop. Is there anything I can do for him???
Poor Ruger! He could be painful or nauseous. Try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts a couple of times a day. If this helps the drooling, feed him the bland diet for a couple of days, and then start adding back in his normal diet. I gave my dog some French fries for the first time and now he won’t stop salivating. He ate his food and has been drinking water but he just won’t stop salivating.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Salivation could be a sign of nausea in dogs. You may continue to monitor Coco for now to make sure that he does not develop any vomiting. If it resolves then he should be ok and there is no need for further evaluation of this. If he develops any vomiting, have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Drooling can be a sign of nausea, which may be why she hasn't eaten as much today. I would keep an eye on her for now, as she may have just eaten something that has upset her stomach. Given that she isn't vomiting or having diarrhea, it's ok to monitor her. If she is still lethargic and not eating as much tomorrow, or develops vomiting or diarrhea, then I would take her into the vet for an exam.

Hello, and thanks for your question. Chili pepper ingestion would cause a burning sensation in the mouth which is likely the cause of Gracie's drooling and odd behaviour. You could try offering her some milk which may help to reduce the discomfort in her mouth. It doesn't sound she would have ingested much of the actual chili peppers, so I am not too worried about further problems, but if you do notice any vomiting or diarrhea tonight, I would take her to the vet. They may recommend medication to help settle her tummy, protect her intestines, and reduce nausea. I hope this helps, and that Gracie feels better soon!
