Our puppy was playing and then threw up quite a bit on the carpet. He moved across the room and threw up again. I don't see anything unusual in the vomit--food and what looks like a small piece of poop. He seems okay now. He is in his crate and is whining to get out. (We will take him out as soon as we clean up the vomit.) We are new to puppy ownership and aren't sure what to do next. Thank you!

If Jordy continues to vomit, starts dry heaving, or is extremely lethargic, I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic tonight or first thing in the morning. If he is normal the rest of the night, give him a half his normal breakfast and monitor for more vomiting. If he does continue to vomit, he'll need to go to vet. Common causes of vomiting in puppies include foreign bodies, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, some metabolic disorders, and mild gastroenteritis if unknown origin. If he does end up needing to go to the vet, they will likely take some x-rays and maybe do a baseline blood work, and then treat him symptomatically if they are do not find a specific. Good luck with Jordy I hope he's feeling better soon! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Let me know if this was helpful information
