My dog has lumps and shaking after a bite. Should I see a vet?

My 7 year old pit bull was bitten multiple times one week ago by another pitbull, he has been acting fine all week and seemed to be healing but now I have noticed that he is shaking alot like shivering, and he has a definite infection in his top of his neck that has a very hard crusty scablike area over the lump inside, also in his throat area he has a lump the size of a golf ball maybe a little bigger but it is not hard. Can I give him augmentin 875-125tab for humans. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 60 lbs

We are not in a position to prescribe medication on a public forum. With the lump in the throat and severe fever he really shuold be seen by a vet - I would be afraid he has an abscess which needs draining in order to prevent it from restricting his breathing. I would also recommend intravenous antibiotics at this stage in order to speed recovery. Contact your vets office to discuss the case - they may be happy to prescribe a temporary dosage until he can be assessed.
