My new puppy cries when I block his safe hiding spot. What's wrong?

So I got a new dog yesterday his name is prince hes really goofy and funny and hes 2 and a half months old when he gets scared he keeps running under my little desk, i later closed it off so he couldn't get under there and now hes crying like crazy was it wrong for me to close it off? he has a cage hes not scared of it but im not sure why he whining now we have a little shih tzu whos 4 years old and hes the biggest scardy cat ive ever seen i didn' want my dog to be like that so im not sure what. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 2 months and 20 days old | 10 lbs

If he feels safe and secure under the desk i would allow him in there for now and work hard on socializing him so that he does not feel the need to use it. Banishing him from his secure area will likely heighten his anxiety at this early stage. Consider pheromone products, calming diets or supplements
