What shots, food, and bathing for my 14-week French Bulldog puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 15 lbs

Hello, I was wondering what shots a 14 week old French bulldog puppy would need. And what is the best food for them and the best products for bathing. And how often do they need a bath. Any other things I would for sure need to know about taking the best care of my puppy

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! At 14 weeks of age Hamilton should be almost finished his puppy vaccine series. At 14 weeks of age, if he has never had vaccines, he would need two DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo and parainfluenza) vaccines 3-4 weeks apart. The 2nd DHPP is good for 1 year. He can also receive the rabies vaccine. You should bring a stool sample and be sure he gets dewormed. He should be started on heartworm prevention and flea and tick medications. He doesn't need to be bathed often unless he smells or is dirty. Once a month is probably fine. I like a moisturizing oatmeal based shampoo (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=19244). I like Purina Proplan puppy, Hill's Science diet and Royal canin brands. I hope this helps and I wish you and Hamilton the best!

At this age you can use any puppy shampoo over the counter at your local pet store. As long as it says puppy shampoo and is oatmeal or aloe based, it should be perfectly fine. : ) Also you will want to start his vaccinations between 6-8 weeks of age, on average pets are starting at 8 weeks. So it is best to keep him away from other possibly unvaccinated pets (dog parks, shared communal grounds) until he is fully vaccinated, which is typically around his 3rd set of vaccines. Vaccinations boosters are given once every 3-4 weeks. Congrats on your new puppy and I hope that continues to be healthy during his development. Best wishes and take care!

Duke is very young and should really be with his mommy still. Make sure you feed him canned puppy food of the best quality, he is not able to eat adequate amounts of kibble at this age. Unfortunately at this age most puppies look alike so it is not possible yet to guess or determine the breed. By the time he is a little older, around 6 months, it will be obvious what breed or mix he could be. Unless he pees on himself or gets messed up with poop, I would not bathe him yet as water could get into his ears and eyes, and might cause irritation. Between the age of 6 and 8 weeks he should get his first parvo vaccine from the vet. There are three rounds of vaccinations until the age of 12 to 16 weeks. Do not let him play with unvaccinated dogs until at least after the third round. Good luck with your puppy, he looks really sweet

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Congrats! T'Challa is adorable! He needs two DHPP vaccines 3-4 weeks apart. When the Rabies vaccine is given depends on your State's Laws, in PA it is between 12-16 weeks. He should be dewormed and you should have a stool checked. He is old enough to be started on heartworm prevention and topical and oral flea/tick medications. I like Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin and Purina for food company's. I wish you all the best!
