My cat played with a dryer sheet but didn't eat it. Is he okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 7 months and 3 days old | 5 lbs

I woke up this morning and found a dryer sheet on the floor of my room where I know it wasn’t before. I always fold laundry in the spare bedroom and throw out dryer sheets there but I think my cat found it and brought it out to play. The sheet is fully in tact so I know he didn’t eat it but it looks like he might have played with it. Should I be worried?? He seems fine

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think that Ace should be fine as long a there are no signs of ingestion. Dryer sheets are very toxic if ingested due to the chemicals on the sheets and the fact that they are non-digestible. If he licked/ingested the chemicals off he could show oral irritation (drooling, not eating, vomiting) or skin irritation and in severe cases of ingestion breathing problems and kidney problems. Long story short, if the sheet is intact and he is eating and not drooling he is likely fine! I hope this helps!
