My dog's soft lump got bigger. Should I take him to the vet again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 18 lbs

One of my dogs bumps has got a little larger, it's still soft and squishy (texture didn't change) and the last time it got aspirated (about 8 months ago) it showed nothing. Do you think I need to get it checked-out again? He's a 10 year old male poodle mix.

Many benign tumors will grow slowly over time. I always recommend repeating a fine needle aspirate if a mass grows quickly, changes texture or becomes red or painful. It does not sound like any of those things have occurred with Toodles, but I would certainly contact your vet to let them know that the mass has grown slightly, so they can look at the results of the previous aspirate and decide if there is any reason to repeat an aspirate of the mass. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
