How to confirm my adopted dog's breed? Border Collie, Aussie, or mix?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 35 lbs

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me better confirm the breed of my dog. I adopted her from someone who claimed she was Australian Shepherd / Saint Bernard. However, I’ve had groomers and other dog lovers day she’s just a full bread border collie, which I can see. There’s also been a suspicion she is perhaps Australian Shepherd. I believe she is a border collie, but am just looking for any other trustworthy opinion.

Hello. Kiwi is adorable! Based on her size, I would say there is very little, to no St. Bernard there. I can definitely see the Border Collie with perhaps some Heeler or maybe even some Spitz or American Eskimo. You might want to consider one of the DNA test kits that are readily available now. It is so much fun to see what actually makes up our pets. You can buy these online, or I believe that Petco carries them, too. Take care.
