Why is my female chihuahua crying and running around erratically?

My two year old female chihuahua has been whinging/crying constantly the last 24 hours and running around the house eratically, as if she’s looking for something. She seems to be having normal bowel movements. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 4.4 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Maple! I would take Maple in to your Vet when they open today. The constant crying indicates discomfort somewhere or fear/anxiety. It can be many, many things so with out examining her I can not tell you for sure. Possibilities are: anal glands, back pain, stomach pains from gas, fleas, nausea, she could be in heat, etc. Look her all over, especially her skin. Try to take her for a walk and see how she does. Pick her up and snuggle her and then call your Vet when they open. I hope this helps and I wish Maple a speedy recovery!
