Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 7 months and 1 day old | 48 lbs
My dog has recently had a severe case of diarrhea needing to go every 20-30 minutes for the last 5 hours and counting. She recently had another case of diarrhea about 1.5 weeks ago and our vet prescribed flagyl for 7 days and fortiflora for 14 days. Tested her stool sample and everything was ok. After seeing the vet her stool became normal within a day. We have a couple days left on the fortiflora, but we accidentally gave a half packet too much 2 days ago. Could this have caused it?

If accidentally dogs ingest very high quantity of probiotics they could experience diarrhea or stomach upset but Penny ingested only half packet more than the usual dose in one occasion two days ago, this amount shouldn't cause any side effect. I would test again the stool sample, maybe send it to an external laboratory for an extended examination that would look for intestinal bacteria and parasites, especially Giardia. Do not hesitate to post again on the forum or request a consultation if you would like to discuss it any further.
