My 3-month GSD puppy won't eat and is losing weight. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 24 lbs

Hello and thanks for your great application and professional team . My daughter 3-month GSD doesn't like to eat anything and refuse the food while she was eating a lot of food and supplements and cans. She's been recently indifferent to food and losing weight ( nearly 6 lb during a week ) . What's the most important reason in your point of view? Which brand of dry food or supplement or medicine you suggest? Thanks a Ton indeed

Sudden loss of appetite and weight loss in a puppy is very concerning and may be related to fever, infection or a bowel obstruction, particularly if accompanied with nausea or vomiting Please have her assessed urgently by a vet, reduced appetite is never normal in a growing pup

3-4 day history of not eating, particularly in a growing puppy, is definitely concerning. I would recommend having Cherry examined by your veterinarian, and to have some diagnostic blood work and possible images obtained to best assess the situation. Some possible causes of what you are seeing include ingestion of a foreign object, pancreatitis, various infection processes, or several less common causes. All of these could be ruled in and out with the above-mentioned testing. Hope this makes sense.
