How long can my dog safely stay outside in freezing temperatures?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 11 years and 4 months old | 76 lbs

Hello! Just looking for some advice. It has been below 0 temperatures here in my area and I was wondering how long besides quick bathroom walks can I take him out? This is the first winter having him that it has been this freezing. If you have any info please let me know. Thank you!

Labradors are pretty big, hardy dogs. As long as they have boots to protect their feet from freezing they can probably tolerate at least a 30 Minute walk. However, I would not leave him out unsupervised in those temperatures. Best of luck in those cold temperatures! Thank you for using Pet Coach.
