My diabetic dog with pancreatitis won't eat. Is Wellness Senior safe?

Is Wellness Complete Health Natural Senior Recipe a option for feeding a 14 year diabetic dog with pancreatitis who refuses to eat the prescription Hill's Science Diet w/d or Royal Canin foods?

There is no best answer to your question! Diabetic dogs often do well on diets low in carbohydrates and high in fiber as this will help to regulate their blood glucose throughout the day. The Wellness senior is not quite as high in fiber as w/d. These diets are similar in fat content, which can play a role in pancreatitis. I would try feeding the Wellness senior diet and nothing else for 1 week and recheck with your vet. Signs that this is an appropriate diet for Snickers would be that he has no vomiting or diarrhea, eats it well, and his blood glucose curve is stable at his current dose of insulin. It is important to check glucose curves after starting a different diet since it may change his insulin needs.
