My 10-month-old cat isn't finishing food. How much and often?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 1 day old | 8.3 lbs

How much should i be feeding my 10 month old cat? Currently i feed him three times a day (1 pouch of Whiskas mince in the morning, 1/4 cup of dry food in the day and 1 pouch again at night) but he never finishes his food anymore like he used to. Should i be feeding him only 2 times a day?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! At 10 months of age, Toby can be fed twice daily. If he isn't finishing the food then I recommend offering less. Obesity in cats is a huge problem. If he is self regulating that is a good thing. I would decrease the amount from the pouches or cut out the dry, whatever you prefer. I hope this helps!
