Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Marley! Is there a way you can post a picture of the area? Is Marley having diarrhea? I would try not to loosen the scab when cleaning it. maybe just spray the area with water and not wipe. Continuing to remove the scab will not allow it to heal. Apply a triple antibiotic ointment to the area in a thin layer and use an Elizabethan collar (E-collar) to prevent Marley from licking the ointment off. With time, preventing him from licking it and not loosening the scab the area should heal. If he had or is having diarrhea the swelling should improve over time. I hope this helps and I wish Marley a speedy recovery!
