My dog gets this rash under his stomach and elbows where he has the least for and it’s raised red bumps his vet gave him hexachlor-k wipes and keeps coming back. What can I do to treat this?

Hi again, and thanks for your question. This could be a superficial bacterial infection, which may require something a bit stronger than topical antiseptic wipes. Your vet may recommend oral antibiotic therapy for a few weeks, and I would definitely advocate weekly (or twice weekly) bathing with a chlorhexidine-based shampoo. Leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. Does Rosco use a harness that may be irritating the stomach and elbows? Another possibility is an underlying allergy that is causing a secondary bacterial infection on the skin. If the skin is itchy, your vet may also recommend anti-inflammatory medications to help relieve the discomfort and help the skin to heal faster. I hope this helps, and that Rosco is feeling better soon!
