My adopted dog's kennel cough worsened, coughing up mucus. What to do?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 46.6 lbs

My dog ollie been sick for a while after adopting him he came home with a kennel cough his take home instructions give doxycycline for 6 days then recheck with but his symptoms got worse after second day having him he has coughing, and coughing up some pheglm like white or yellowish mucus like I don’t know if it can be vomit or not He’s eating chicken and rice but refuses dog kibble but still playfuland hyper What to do!?

I'm so sorry Ollie is having this problem. It sounds like Ollie needs to go back for a recheck examination and possibly some x-rays of his lungs. Sometimes kennel cough can progress into pneumonia and will need different treatment, so I would recommend having your veterinarian evaluate him again. In the meantime, you can take him into the bathroom with you when you shower for 5-10 minutes because the humidity should help loosen things in his lungs and make him feel a little bettter.
