My dog growls near her new puppies. When can I safely handle them?

When will my jackrussel let me see her puppies? They look so cute and I can’t wait till she lets me see them at what age will she let me look they are 6 days old now and when I go near she growls and bears her teeth but normally she’s very freindly she just loves her puppies so much when do dogs normally let u see the pups?

it is best to start touching and handling the puppies now to get them socialized and used to being touched and humans. This is also good for mom to learn to no one will hurt them and help with her behavior. I would take the mom outside for a walk or to another room then handle the puppies. When you bring mom back in, hand her the puppies back so she knows she will get them back. As they get older she will leave them for longer periods and this will get easier
