My puppy swallowed something, has red lump. Vet closed, what to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bedlington Terrier | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 14 days old | 9 lbs

Our puppy swallowed something (unsure what). We could feel it under her akin yesterday and this morning it is now a red lump, with the end of whatever she swallowed sticking out around 2mm. She is eating, drinking and toileting normally. Is active just quieter than normal. Our vets is shut today and we wondered what we should do? Thanks

Since she is eating and drinking normally, the best thing to do is try to not let her run and jump and play the best your can, you want to let her rest. You can apply a cold compress to the area since it is red and swollen now to help. Your vet can check her and see if need to be lanced and flushed or just antibiotics
