Can a litter of beagle puppies have two fathers of different breeds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 12 days old

I have a 12 days old puppies. I'm a bit confused of their breed. Their mother is a beagle and as far as I know, their father is a beagle too. But I'm really confused because they look like a mix of dachshund and beagle (beacause I also have a dachshund). But is it possible for my puppies to have two fathers? A beagle and a dachshund?

This is a great question! While it’s not possible for ONE puppy to have two fathers, it’s definitely possible for a litter to be the result of two separate breedings. You may find as the puppies get larger that some favor your beagle male and some favor the dachshund! Regardless of the father, I’m sure they are all adorable!
