Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 65 lbs

i took my dog to vet the other day because her eye was swollen, red and the white part on the bottom looked as though it was covering part of her eye. he prescribed neomycin and polymysin b sufates and dexamethasone opthalic suspension ( usp). that was friday. it looked slightly better yesterday morning but now, is very red again. she has not been rough housing and has been inside most of the time.

It is difficult to give advice without actually seeing the eye. You are welcome to post again with a photo if you'd like. That being said, as long as she is not pawing at the eye, scratching at it or squinting then you can probably wait until your vet opens again to take her for a recheck exam. Continue to put the medications in as prescribed. If you are noticing squinting or that the eye is actually bothering her then you need to get her to a vet ASAP for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
