My dog vomited deer horn chew shards. Does she need a vet now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 8 months and 30 days old | 43 lbs

My dog had a Petstages Deer Horn Dog Chew, I took it away once I saw that she was shredding it. This was about noon today. About and hour ago she vomited up a bunch of little shards of the chew. No food just the chew and a little bit of stomach lining. The vomit didn’t appear to have blood just bile. She is sleeping now and doesn’t appear to be in pain. Not sure if I can wait till the morning to see the vet or if I need to take her in to a 24 hour place

The little pieces of this chew probably upset her stomach. . withhold food for 12 hours then offer Nettle boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.
