My dog has pale gums and dark stools. Could it be anemia or an ulcer?

Pet's info: Dog | Lhasa Apso | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 13.7 lbs

My dog's gums,ears and skins are pale white in color. his stools are dark and hard. He didnt take his food for 4 days .since we force feeded him he ate some. I think he might have anemia or ulcer!. Now he's active and eating normally. But my only concerned is about the pale white gums and dark stools are still can be seen. Is it normal? And what diet he should maintain to increase his red blood cells?? Is he safe? Is it curable?? Kindly help me. Thank you

White gums are very concerning for anemia. It would be unusual for a 2 year old dog to have a bleeding ulcer, but it is possible. More commonly would be a tick born infection like ehrlichia, or even babesia . Sometimes the immune system can attack the red blood cells as well. Changing his diet won’t help the anemia without finding out the cause and treating that at the same time. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
