Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered
A street TNR cat that I take care of looks like it's straining to poop. Some watery stool comes out, but not a lot. I'ts been going on a few days. What should I do?

This actually seems to be more related to diarrhea. You can try to feed some bland food like boiled chicken and add probiotics to the food (can find this at the pet store). Make sure he has plenty of clean water available. If you notice that he loses weight and/or condition, then it would be best to take him to a veterinarian, or local shelter for treatment. I hope that helps and Fluffy gets better soon.

The first thing to do is get him in to see your vet to rule out any underlying medical condition that could be causing the loose stools, such as bacterial infection or parasites. If he is cleared medically, ask your vet about diet. Some cats have sensitive stomachs and they can benefit from some specialty diets your vet may carry. Some cats with chronic diarrhea do well on a commercial raw based diet, available at specialty pet stores.
