My dog is constipated, straining, and pushing her rear. Anal glands?

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 26 lbs

My pug shitzu mix began experiencing some constipation about a week ago. She would go to her doggie pad as if to poo and appeared to be straining tto go a bit. After belly rubbing she did go but it was very hard small pellets. I read some articles online that talked about anal glands and how they will sometimes not express themselves. I noticed her doing something I hadn't seen before. When near me she began turning her butt towards me and would kinda push her rearend at me. I decided to moisten

You can put a couple tablespoons of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) into Evie's food to add fiber to her diet and to make things "move along". If this does not help, it could certainly be due to full or impacted anal glands. In this case, your veterinarian will be able to express Evie's anal glands to relieve any discomfort and to assess if there is any infection causing the problem.
