Can dogs thrive on a vegan diet, and how do treats affect health?

What is a preferred vegan diet for Dachshund? How excess of Biscuits and other sweets can effect the health of a dog??

I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, by there is no preferred vegan diet for dogs. They should be eating some meat. If you do want to go forward with a vegan diet, I would strongly recommend working with a Veterinary Nutritionist so Jumbo can stay healthy while following your dietary preferences. Your regular veterinarian can help you find one. In terms of treats and sweets, similar to people there empty calories intent to cause weight gain. If he's eating 20 calories of a sugary biscuit, that's 20 calories of a well-balanced diet that he can't have without gaining weight. As a general rule no more than 10% of calories should come from treats. It's great that you're thinking about this issues. I'm sure you'll find a good option for Jumbo.
