My dog's glands are swollen after her vaccine. Could it be cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Female | 4 years and 6 months old | 96 lbs

Daisy had her immunisation in mid October a week later her glands on her neck were swollen. She was seen by a vet and we were told this was a reaction to the immunisation. She has otherwise been heathly. We took her back to see the vet as the lumps are still there and the glands on her hind legs are slightly swollen. Now she is booked I on Tuesday for further tests as they want to check now in case she has cancer !!! Surely not ... She is fine in her health other wise

Poor Daisy - cancers would be rare at such a young age but any time multiple glands are enlarged in an otherwise well dog it is definitely a concern. I would also be recommending biopsies of some of the glands to fully investigate the underlying case and to distinguish between inflammation, infection and tumours
