My fat cat can't clean his bottom. Is it safe to use pet wipes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 9 years and 7 months old | 22 lbs

Cat is fat and cannot clean his bottom after going to the loo. so his bottom is sore and dirty. I clean him with a pet wet wipe , is this ok? his stools are not solid but not runny.

As long as they are cat friendly this is ok, but he may be less than impressed! I strongly recommend transitioning him to a high fiber metabolic/weight management diet which would be expected to improve stool consistency and prevent this happening as well as reducing his weight. Obesity is linked to many health complications in cats including diabetes, fatty liver disease and inflammatory diseases
