My new anxious dog is eating pine straw and has weird poop. Why?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 25 lbs

We got a new dog and the owners were pushing to get rid of her well we got her home and shes really nervous and anxious and scared well she pooped and her poop is pale yellow and brown and slightly black that was her first poop then she pooped again and it was nothing pine straw and other debris with a film over it

It certainly looks like Bean is eating a lot of non-dog food that is showing up in her stool. There's not much to do yet. This can be caused by gastrointestinal issues such as parasites or other infections, anxiety, poor nutrition or hunger. If Beans continues to eat a lot of plant material after settling in to your home after a few weeks, further work up is warranted. She should go to the vet next week to update vaccines and have fecal test run - show them these pictures. If she starts vomiting or having diarrhea, you may want to take her to an emergency clinic over the holiday weekend. Best of luck to you and Beans.
