Simparica isn't working for dog's sarcoptic mange. What else can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 34 lbs

Prolare lintoz diluted 1 oz to a gallon of water was suggested to me for sarcoptic mange. Seems like simparica is working slowly but he still itches. Do you suggest borax and peroxide baths? If not what do you suggest to do along with simparica. What would I apply on yard?

I suggest you use a medicated shampoo called RenuPlex. https://www.amazon.com/Medicated-Antifungal-Eliminates-Unconditional-Guarantee/dp/B00A0NBKJ2 Shake well before using. Wet dog and massage shampoo into entire coat. Allow shampoo to sit on him for 5 minutes then rinse thoroughly. Use 2x weekly for first two weeks and weekly thereafter. Once skin condition clears begin using on a regular basis to sustain a healthy coat (like once every 3-4 weeks). For use on dogs only. I would also recommend an immune system/skin supplement like SkinPlex Enzymes & Nutrient Supplement: https://www.amazon.com/Digestive-Enzymes-SkinPlex-Allergies-Problems/dp/B009SD2148/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1514583980&sr=1-1&keywords=skinplex Treat the yard with this: https://www.petsmart.com/dog/flea-and-tick/home-and-yard-treatment/home-mdandtrade-maximum-defense-yard-and-premise-spray-28187.html Treat the house with this: https://www.petsmart.com/dog/flea-and-tick/home-and-yard-treatment/home-mdandtrade-maximum-defense-household-flea-and-tick-spray-28231.html Hope this helps. Best wishes.
