Why is my dog's stomach hard and she's constipated but playful?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 27 days old | 30 lbs

My dog's stomach is very hard. I've been worried because her poop is very dark brown and in little amounts and she goes less frequently than usual. I've noticed this problem for a couple of days now but I've become more concerned now since before it went away but now it's persistent. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, she eats normally, and is very playful and active. Please help.

If she is otherwise acting normal, then I would not be too concerned. It's possible that she simply has some firm feces and constipation with what you're describing. It's difficult to a know for sure without evaluating her but you may try to add some things to her diet to make the stools less firm. Below is a link to an article that has some helpful information. https://www.petcoach.co/article/best-home-made-remedies-for-your-constipated-pet/ I hope that helps and all is well with Nena.
