My puppy's nose got hurt by a nail file. Does he need vet care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 months and 13 days old | 16 lbs

While filing my 14 wk old Shepherd mix puppy's nails with an electric foot file, I accidentally let him try to sniff it and it hurt his nose. I put Neosporin +pain cream on it and it's hard to tell if it still hurts. He did not whimper but did pull back quickly. His nose is cold and wet. He seems sad tho. Does he need medical attention?

I am sure it scared him more than anything. I do not see anything bad on that photo. If you notice any dry scabs or wounds then keep the neosporin on it and if it does not get better after a few days then take him to the vet.
