My dog had severe seizures. Was putting him to sleep the right choice?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 26 days old | 45 lbs

My 10 month old pitbull kept having good seizures back to back. They would not stop. We were told that he high levels of toxin in his kidneys and would have to stay overnight for I've fluids but there was no guarantee that he would make. We decided to take him home since the seizures stopped but they started again shortly after getting home and would not stop. We decided to put him to sleep so that he would not have suffer any longer. Was that the right choice to make or could we have saved him

I am so sorry hear that Bobo had this issue. I can say that any animal that is having back to back seizures (especially at that young age) was likely born with a congenital issue either in the brain or the liver/kidneys. I think you putting him to sleep was a good decision. I cannot tell you if you he could have been "saved" or managed with medications as I do not have all the details but it sounds like his condition was pretty severe. If I were you I would not be second-guessing my decision. Without having all the details I think you did the right thing. So sorry for your loss :(
