Obese senior cat limping, no teeth. How do I get her to lose weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 19 lbs

I have a 9 year old tortie. She is morbidly obese and now she is limping on on front and one rear leg. I don't know how to make her lose weight. She grazes on kibble but usually only eats 2 three times per day, she has no teeth. What to do? She's my baby!!!

She needs to be put on a prescription diet for weight control. make an apointment with your vet to discuss the matter and to get a prescription for a special food that will help her lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time.
