My dog has allergies and ear infections. Is Apoquel safe long-term?

Constant allergies and ear infections. Apoquel works well but told not a good idea to take long term. Any safer alternatives out there? Any OTC shampoos I can try? Does not tolerate fish/oil... does best on LID duck and potato food. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 90 lbs

Apoquel is actually the only effective and safe medication that can be taken long term for this type of condition, if it works well i would recommend working on the lowest effective dose once a day and sticking to it. you will not find anything that works OTC, the only true alternative is steroids and these should not be taken long term.
