Is it okay for my pet rabbit to have pears and nectarines as a treat?

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Bunnies can get lots of leafy greens (kale, lettuce, bok choy, broccoli), and other treats like carrots, apples, banana, oranges, mandarins, grapes . 75% should be hay, 20% should be greens, and 5% should be treats. Best of luck with your rabbit.

It is impossible to say exactly how much should be fed without seeing the food. However, most pelleted diets can be fed freely to rabbits that are young and active. In terms of treats, I recommend one fruit or veggie treat per day, about 1/8-1/4 cup total depending on the food. For example, berries and more dense foods should be given as smaller servings while leafy greens can be given in larger amounts. He should be eating mostly a pellet diet that you can find in pet stores as well as free access to hay. As far as additional treats, there are various treats sold in stores. Fruits and veggies should be offered in small amounts. You can try carrots, green beans, green leafy veggies, apples, pineapples, and bananas. I recommend staying away from fruits with seeds. Hi Jaime! There are a lot of fruits and veggies that are safe for rabbits. Leafy greens, like kale, parsley, and cilantro should make up the bulk of their non-pellet, non-hay treats, but fruits in moderation can be great for them, too. Bits of apple, strawberry, pear, papaya, mango, banana, and apricots are good choices. Make sure that they are washed well, and that they don't encompass more than 5-10% of your rabbits' diet. Avoid avocado, all seeds and pits, and wild fruits and veggies. Good luck!

Hello there! There is no real need to feed pellets to rabbits. We generally recommend that rabbits eat no more than a tablespoon of pellets per day. They are high in calories which makes for a good treat and training reward, but certainly not a vital part of nutrition. A healthy rabbit's diet should consist of 80% hay (Oaten and Timothy are good choices), as much leafy greens as they would like in a day, and occasional fresh fruit. I hope this helps! What a cute bunny! Lola should not really eat peanuts or their shells - peanuts are pretty high in fat and may disturb her intestinal motility. They are not necessarily toxic to rabbits, but not an ideal choice for a treat. There are plenty of other options for treats, many of which are readily available in pet stores. Lola can have things like carrots, green beans, small amounts of fruits such as pineapples and apples, and plenty of hay.

Apricots are safe for bunnies to eat, as long as Mimi did not eat the stone of the apricot. If she die eat that, then she will have to see a vet immediately as it can cause serious problems. I hope this helps!

Eating/biting/tasting a tangerine is not harmful to rabbits. I would not be worried about this at all. As for the chocolate, if it was a small piece of chocolate, no harm will come to your rabbit. But if your rabbit was to eat a large amount of chocolate, that is a very serious situation that means an emergency visit to the veterinarian’s office. Hope this answers your question. Best wishes.
