My cat has jaundice and hasn't eaten in days. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 7 months old

Hey. My cat has got juindice. She stopped eating 8 days ago but after 3 days we took her to the vet and he gave her few injections and drips. It's almost 10 days and she's still not smelling food other than water which she's drinking 3-4 times a day. Ww are giving her hepa-merz syrup as recommended by the vet since 4 days but still no improvement in her hunger. She's still feeding glucose and some B complex syrups through syringes and injections. Please let me know what should i do now?

Hi there. It sounds like Miss Bella has hepatic lipidosis. This is a serious problem. You need to take her back to the vet and get a feeding tube placed. She will not get better unless she eats. If she won't eat by herself then you have to provide nutrition via the feeding tube. This article will give you a lot of information. http://www.2ndchance.info/hepaticLipidosis.htm Here is a link to an article about tube feeding: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/tube-feeding-in-cats Honestly, this is serious and she needs to get back to the vet and have that tube placed if you want to give her the best chance at recovery. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
