My 1-month Golden puppy is obese from Cerelac. Diet & bathing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | 1 month and 2 days old | 4 lbs

I have adopted a golden retriever puppy. He is a month old. I want to enquire about his diet. Currently we are feeding him cerelac. He seems to be gaining weight, and is starting to look a little obese. I want to know about how to bathe him. And how should we proceed with his diet in the following months.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If he is not able to eat kibble yet, I would recommend that you consider a milk replacement formula which you can buy online or at your local pet store. Otherwise, if he is already starting to eat kibble or dry food, I would suggest you start him on a high quality puppy diet such as Purina Pro Plan or a Hill's Science Diet food among others you may find at your local pet store. Also, at this point you can bathe him with a puppy shampoo if needed. Good luck!
