My puppy's baby teeth won't fall out. How are they pulled and will it hurt?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 9 days old | 6.8 lbs

A veterinarian at vetco, examined my dog and told us that non of her upper or lower teeth had fallen so they have to be pulled out. What is the process of it, will it be painful for her?

I usually do this at the time of spay so that they are only under anesthesia once. There will be some discomfort, but pain medications should be sent some to help with that. If you don’t plan to spay her, then she will need anesthesia to have all the teeth pulled. It is a pretty quick procedure, but she will likely be kept for a few hours to monitor her after anesthesia.
