Why is my Indian Ringneck parrot's beak not as red as before?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 1 year and 9 months old

I have an Indian Ringneck who is 1 year and 9 months, recently his beak from the start point has been not as red as it use to be. What do I do?! Other than getting it checked by an avian vet?!

Hi, I don't see anything abnormal about the beak. The external layer is made of keratin and this is constantly regenerated while the outermost layer wears off. The older layer may look less colorful. The only thing you should do is make sure that Maximus gets good nutrition (pellets) and has plenty of wood toys to bite on.
